"WANDERER FREE"

Let me be a wanderer free
To bathe my feet in the desert sand
Where the only touch is natures' hand
To sit and rest in a canyon deep
     Where the tall dark mountains
     Put the sun to sleep
Make my bed in the forest, green
With the owl and the nighthawk
To share my dreams
Place no pools of progress along my path
     No crowded beaches
     To share my bath
No false lights to point the way
Just the stars by night
And the sun by day
When I have reached my journey's end
     Let my bones be bleached
     By the prairie winds
No markers placed for the world to see
For it is only then
That I'll be free
