“Nine Months to the Day” has been written and created by Laurie Culley, so as to share with you the reader his experiences of Life and The World as he sees. This book has been written in contemporary verse form and is a unique and exceptional collation of works placed together as a creative journal in a sequence that is both easy to follow and a joy to read.

The content of this book was inspired by the Authors, “Love Of Verse” and battle with, “Alcohol and Drug Addiction.”  It covers a journey through life in a way that is spiritual, thoughtful, inspirational, emotional, creative and gripping.  On the basis that we all face difficulties in our lives and we are all perfectly imperfect, I strongly feel that this book can offer something for all.

Laurie Culley was born and raised in Liverpool. He grew up on a council estate in a place called Huyton. His childhood was tough. He has had a love of verse for many years but due to his chaotic lifestyle and his inner fears of sharing his work he kept his love known only to his familly and friends. His poetry has very much been an invaluable part of his recovery and after the positive responses he has recieved in relation to his work he decided to put his story together in his own wonderful and unique way. He very much would like for his work to offer insight and inspiration. And sincerely believes that many a good can come from his honesty and his real life experiences. He has painted an exceptional picture of the world as it is for him and hopes to offer the similarities we have to each other rather than the obvious differences.

UNDER A CLOUD

Id like to flower

The whole year round;

Year after year…

Touching all, who pass!

The dream I live

Brings many a pain,

Yet, I go on in vain.

My spirit strong!

My mind weak!

My heart bleeds!

My soul weeps!

Dry tears

Roll down my cheeks.

I see you clearly…

Great Cloud above…

My deepest, Darkest dread…

Overshadowed

I’m locked away…

Petals firmly shut!

I long for my summer loving rays…

So as all I touch be amazed.

Judge not

Those under a Cloud…

For they are locked away!
