Many international poets contributed freely to this compilation of children’s poems, for which all profits and royalties go to the BBC Children in Need appeal fund. The publishers – Author House UK – kindly agreed to print the book free of charge after seeing all the wonderful poems that had been collected.
A prominent member of many poetry associations, Patricia Ann Farnsworth-Simpson
had no trouble raising an enthusiastic response to the call for poets to write and submit a poem for the cause with contributions coming from as far afield as America, Australia, Canada, Jamaica, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
With dedication and joy of being able to do this for the children Pat as worked hard to enthuse others and put the poems together into a manuscript ready for publication. Any information regarding the book and the poets who donated can be found by contacting Pat at http://www.patthepoet.com/
This is a book that will appeal to children of all ages. Some poems tell short stories about children and the animals and creatures that surround them, such as the butterflies and bees of the title. But with the ‘Children in Need’ appeal in mind, the intention of the book is not merely to amuse children, but to offer poems with moral support, to show love and guidance for children in any difficult situation. We hope you enjoy this book and thank you for purchasing and joining us in contributing to this very worthwhile cause.
The Butter Bee!
If I was a Butterfly not a Bee,
No little children would be scared of me,
Instead of a buzz, I would have a flutter,
To worry no-one if I was in a clutter!
~~~*^V^*~~~
For when gathered with friends in a mass,
All would joyfully stare as they pass,
Even baby's Mammy wouldn't stop me,
From fluttering around, nonchalantly!
~~~*^V^*~~~
Every baby child seeing me would smile,
At my delicate wings that beguile,
Portrayed in beautiful colours that glow,
Like those arched above in a rainbow!
~~~*^V^*~~~
But if I was a Butterfly, not a Bee,
Who would make honey if not for me,
Honey so healthy and good to eat,
A healing balm that tastes so sweet!
~~~*^V^*~~~
Tell me what does a Butterfly really do?
Except look pretty to all of you,
Is it my buzz that drives you away,
When I come in close wanting to play!
~~~*^V^*~~~
Well! I wish I didn't buzz like a Bee,
That I flew like a Butterfly so prettily,
And if I still made honey you’d agree,
I would be better than a Butterfly,
I'd be a
BUTTERBEE!
