Dolly the Border Terrier was rescued from a busy main road on a very cold, wet monday morning, she was in a poor state with matted hair and a nasty skin condition.
After a warm shower and a hearty meal she settled into our home wonderfully.
We have named her Dolly Daydream simply because it suits her so well. She is much loved and leading a very happy new beginning with Oliver and Teddy her new house-mates who took to her immediately.
This is Dolly's story in her words of her re-homing and the many friends she has made along the way.
It is all written as poetry, some humorous some sad but above all else highly entertaining.
Lulu Gee lives in the Surrey countryside by the river Wey. She has one daughter Georgina and a grandson. She enjoys walking her dogs and gardening but above all else writing.
Lulu is now retired which means she has more time to pursue her love of writing but her career was in the very stressful world of corporate finance for many years. She has also run her own business as a hotelier but now enjoys a peaceful and quiet life with her dogs.
I have a new Mummy and Daddy, it happened a few days ago...
I was lost, wet and very smelly just wandering to and fro.
They wrapped me in lovely warm towels after bathing me clean till I squeaked
And my collar was thrown in the dustbin as I heard said, 'it totally reeked.'
My new friends are Ollie and Teddy, Ollie is so old and wise...
Teddys much younger and cheeky and they're a great couple of guys.
Teddy licked me and gave me a toy; he said I would feel more at home
And Ollie said, 'sleep in my bed, you need to be cosy and warm.'
I've got such a wonderful title, I'm now known as Dolly Daydream,
My name tag's all sparkly and new and I'm treated just like a Queen.
I know that I am very lucky 'cos Aunty June keeps telling me so,
She's had lots and lots of doggies and lives at Grebe House you know.
We eat every day at three thirty and then down to the river we go
And I bark 'cos I'm full of excitement when I see Ellie, Benji and Jo.
I'm kissed and cuddled so much now that my heart feels just like it will pop
But the singing of 'Hello Dolly,' really just has to STOP!!!
