The poetry in this book spans over many various
insights, from simple day to day occurrences to complex opposing conflicts. It
paints clear portraits of the beauty of
life’s amazing wonders. It provides a roller coaster of emotions from
deep within, leaving the reader digesting its contents of ideas and thoughts to
contemplate and relate to. It brings to life and gives personality to nature’s
gifts. Details are in depth with life’s everyday happenings. Whether the reader
takes a stroll outside on a sunny day or drifts into their sleep, he or she
will feel the impact of his or her travels.
There is something for everyone, for all ages: nature, children, love,
happiness, humor, sadness, fears, etc.; a true mixture of ups and downs.
Ranging from detailed scenes to heart filled emotions, along with two sided
opposing thoughts, and realistic inner fears, this book is a potluck of what
life is about. In summary, it is just a small speck in time, unraveling the
endless array of what exists.
Experienced with twenty-six years of marriage,
raising six children, enjoying four grandchildren, working full time as a
Registered Nurse, and volunteering for her community’s life squad has kept her
life busy. Limited and valuable is her spare free moments for writing,
painting, gardening, traveling, furthering education and enjoying the outdoors.
Her happiest moments come when she can do something creative and see the final
outcome of her efforts. Completing her first book of poetry has been a creative
and challenging role. Looking for the positive aspects in life and questioning
the negatives has inspired her varied topics as she takes life as it comes.
While living in a rural community and commuting to the city daily, she sees a
kaleidoscope of scenes during every season, anytime of day or night. She comes
into contact with people who are diverse in many aspects. From these
experiences, she takes ideas and transforms them into written paintings filled
with details, for the reader to relate to.
My Rose
You are my rose, as beautiful as the many colors
Of spring and summer. So very delicate--
So very fragile--So very soft--
You stand tall, and reach out for many
To touch you--To love you--
But, not too much--Not too close--
For-- There are may thorns,
Many thorns of pain.
Many thorns to keep loving hearts--
To keep loving hearts from getting too close.
The thorns prick and make loving hearts bleed.
The thorns give pain.
The thorns are your protection: from love.
Take the thorns away, and you become
weak.
You wither from no strength.
Little do you know, those thorns are for enemies,
Not for loved ones.
Little do you know, those thorns can be part of your beauty.
You are beautiful-- You are soft.
You are loving--Giving so much happiness
But, the thorns--So much pain. So much misery.
Soften those thorns.
Put your strength into your little buds.
Let those rosebuds open up to all who love you.
You are my rose.
Let those who love you enjoy your beauty.
Let them cut a sprig to enjoy
As you grow many more loving branches.
Share your beauty.
Don’t prick all who come your way,
Otherwise, fall will come
And cold winds will blow your soft pedals away.
Then, your beauty will be lost again
Until the warmth in your heart
Lets you grow and bloom again.
Until the tears of loved ones
Waters your soil into remembrance of true love.
Don’t wither away.
Keep your soft, fragrant beauty
For you are and always will be-- My Rose.
