The author was born in Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, a former colony of the United Kingdom.
In his later teenage years he migrated to Barbados, an island in the sunny Caribbean sea. Then in his twenty's to the UK where he spent the better portion of seven years living and studying. It was during his seven year tenor in the UK that the author came to know and follow Jesus Christ.
The place and circumstance that is the United Kingdom also constitutes 'the' occasion of the discovery of two little known linguistic keying systems employed consistently by Old Testament LXX translators, and New Testament
writers. Immediately following the discovery the author migrated to Denmark, where he now resides with his wife Birte and son Joshua.
On the best of days, one could find the this enigmatic wayfarer prayerfully charting the little known courses of the biblical languages, or ardently perusing the country lanes of Jutland. Beyond these, Keith Shepherd spearheads pioneering work on two notable projects: Hebron; the research and re-translation of the Christian Bible, and Harvest Fields; the timely dissemination of the findings of his research, and the completed translation.
Keith's entire outlook on life is crystal clear, as it is Christological. In his own words: “Life is not life if its end and ending is death, but life is life and eternal, because life is Jesus Christ.”
On Motivation
On Your Mark has it humble beginnings on the white sandy beaches of Barbados. I was there for a brief holiday with relatives, and had the occasion and impetus to read the Gospel of Mark from cover to cover. What was most striking at that time was the number of times our Lord Jesus and his disciples frequented the seashore…
That holiday and the seed of an idea for a bible study, and new translation remained with me as I travelled back to the UK. Hence, today’s finished work is evidence of a process that spans the better part of three or four years and several thousand hours of ardent study and prayer.
That journey that began back then, on the beaches of Barbados, mingled with some clear insight into four misunderstood Koine Grecian words, has eventually grown in stature, to a full-blown investigation into every word of this peculiar Gospel and produced this ‘labour of love’ that I now heartily extend to everyone…
On Format
With regards to format, I have sought to keep to minimum, alien entries into the translation, but wherever they occur, they are enclosed in square brackets “[ ]”, and are there only for clarification.
Through the application of a useful Hebraic communicational formulae, I have also enclosed in curved brackets "( )" words that are to be used along with those within the actual translation.
These are included especially in those instances where no one word would sufficiently render the real or implied meaning of the original text. E.g., the Gk word, idou, variously rendered beholds in traditional translations, finds it absolute meaning and usage in the midst of, but not separate from anyone of the following English terms: understand, comprehend, perceive and consider.
Words that are to be used in conjunction or included with the translated text are rendered in bold and italicised text, and enclosed in curved brackets. Clarifications are italicised, and are found in square brackets.
Thematic subject headings are included wherever necessary to aid the reader to separate specific stories, or illustrate the development of the major theme of the original author. Chapter and verse headings, though they were not included in the original, are also included here as useful reference markers, and to aid navigation of the text and memorization, should the reader wish.
