About the Book

Between the Layers is a story about relationships and how they can become stronger, or even break, due to the type of person you are inside.  You find that either others will stand beside you, no matter what or others may turn their backs on you because they discriminate towards something about who you are.  This story is of a woman who is about to turn thirty and is getting pressure from her father, mostly, about getting married.  Her father fixes her up with every eligible man he meets, but she ends up finding out that she is gay.  She struggles with her feelings towards a woman she meets, while she is being proposed to by a man her father fixed her up with.  In the end she has to decide who is going to make her happy and if she is able to stand-up and be who she really is inside.

About the Author

In the early ages of Margo Zimmerman’s life, she wanted to be a writer.  She started at the early age of ten when she wrote her first short story and turned it in for an exercise for class.  She got an A+ on it and her teacher called her after class to discuss it.  She remembers her teacher telling her that she had talent and that she should continue with her interest in writing.  Later, she wrote a few wonderful poems, started several novels, but it wasn’t till she was in her late thirties when she finished one of them.

Living on her own by mid-teenage life, this enabled her to experience more life events than most people at this young age and it gave her a unique view of real life.  She was able to express it in her writings, but she needed to support herself also.  She put all her energy into working in a portrait studio for a couple of years and became assistant manager before joining the Army.  She suffered a back injury while serving, which left her handicapped.  After receiving an honorable medical discharge from the military, she went into the business world as an administrative assistant for Ford Motor Company.  After working there for three years, she went into the financial business under the stock market.  She stayed working for a variety of companies and of the companies lead her to Richmond, Virginia where she worked for Wachovia Corporation.

She was working as a Branch Operations Support Manager, when she re-injured her lower back and became paralyzed.  It was during the time off work from her paralysis that she pulled out her old manuscript and began to put all her energy into it and finally finished her novel.  The feeling of accomplishing a novel made her realize that she could do another and she continues to work on her writings.  Her ardent followers urged her to start other sequel books for the future, so that has encouraged her to formulate three more scripts.

Throughout the years, she has written several works and has done research in her craft.  She would like to see her work get out there and into the hands of others.  If she can make a difference in one person’s life, that would mean the world to her.

“Michael seems like a really nice guy.”  I said and didn’t go on any further, cause I wasn’t sure what I was feeling yet.

We finished eating and walked back towards my office.

We stopped just outside the front entrance of the building and she said, “Well, thanks for meeting me for lunch.”  It seemed like there was more she wanted to say but shook my hand and said, “Just to let you know, Michael should be calling you this afternoon.”

She was smiling and she got into her red Jeep that she parked in front of the building.  She waived and then drove off.

Sure enough, by the time I got back in the office there was a message from Michael.

Sue Ann said, “Dr. Michael said he was going to be tied up for the rest of the afternoon and said he would call you this evening.”

“Thanks, Sue Ann.”  I replied as I walked into my office.  I sat at my desk and thought about Casey.  She is such a nice person.  I just couldn’t see how someone could be cruel to her.  I felt pretty good inside that she wanted to be friends.  I was still very confused with my feelings, but wasn’t quite sure exactly what I was feeling.

I worked for another two hours and had to leave for an appointment.

“I will see you two tomorrow.”  I said to Charlie and Sue Ann.

For the past year now, I have been seeing a therapist.  I started out seeing her every week and thought I was doing better, so…………….
