CHAPTER ONE“Cricket and the West Indies” looks briefly at the relationship that the people of the Caribbean have with this wonderful game, and the achievement of winning the bid to stage the event in 2007.

Although Jamaica and the rest of the region (West Indies) have such intimate relationship with Cricket, organisers of the World Cup over the years have always overlooked the Caribbean when the issue of where to host this prestigious event was raised.  I will not put it down to a lack of objectivity on the part of the sport’s world governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC).

One of the main reasons why the West Indies has never hosted a cricket tournament of such magnitude is the paucity of appropriate facilities available there. The thinking is simple, if the amenities are not present, alternatives will have to be considered.

CHAPTER TWO - "Developing a Positive Mental Attitude towards Life and Business".

‘Man is not a creature of circumstances; circumstances are creatures of men.’ – Benjamin Disraeli.

Consequently, in forging the way forward, you should be mindful of the fact that the biggest danger in the whole circumstance is that, if you do not break the cycle of poverty and deprivation around you, your children will follow; reinforce these rules and eventually make them key maxims to guide their own lives.  They will become even more creative than you have been at embracing their circumstances, as they appear to be. But this will only ensure that poverty stays with our society for a mighty long time.

You are intelligent, strong and free in spirit and thinking. Do not allow traditional thinking and behaviour to deprive you of the abundance of happiness, wealth and peace of mind that is out there for you to claim and enjoy. Look at the brighter side; think about what your life would be like if you were to wake up tomorrow morning and find yourself with all the money you always wanted.

CHAPTER THREE - "Business Basics"

If you are to become adept at the art of doing business successfully you must be prepared by committing yourself to understanding some significant business concepts and conventions now in use.

CHAPTER FOUR - "Business Ideas Galore".

Did you know that every one of the world’s Fortune 500 companies started out as little ideas, which grew into multibillion-dollar corporations?

The same can be true for your little World Cup Cricket commercial ideas if you give them a chance to make it to the market place, by creating the right conditions around them, thus allowing them to become your first step towards financial freedom.

No idea should be left to rot in your ‘little book of business ideas’, on your computer or in your head. I have come up with a few, which I know are brilliant and can be implemented in the period of the World Cup Cricket Tournament in 2007 in the West Indies.

I have seen some of these simple business ideas in action during my travels across a few geographical frontiers. Some of them have been observed in action even right there in the Caribbean. Others have been conceived of by just pushing my imagination and creativity a little beyond their mundane boundaries (realms).

In the meantime, do not forget that: ‘man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.’ – Oliver Wendell Holmes.
