Lucinda Mitchell
This book is a collection of writings about space related topics: NASA, stars, planets, moon phases, other life, space numbers, the shuttle, and general space. With the author’s passion for space, writing, and reading, this is a culmination of the three. Most of the writings were the product of creative moments, were written over a long period of time, and written originally without the intention of publication.
Lucinda Mitchell was born and raised in a small, rural community in the “thumb” of Michigan. She is a 6th grade teacher with passions in both Space Studies and Language Arts. With a Master’s Degree from Regis University in Space Studies, Lucinda is the recipient of the 2004 Space Educator Award and the 2007 Lapeer County Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year. Lucinda helps raise money to send kids to space camp every summer, and then she accompanies them there. She and her husband live on a farm and have a brood cow/calf operation. They have 3 adult sons and 2 grandchildren.
Planets
Places that are distant.
Land ones (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) are called terrestrial.
All so very far away, the closest is…
Named after Roman gods.
Earth is the only one known to be inhabited by humans.
Travel to Mars has been accomplished by satellites Spirit and Opportunity.
So many questions still about them.
