About the author
As a mother and community college English teacher, Julie Lane encourages her daughters, Jennifer and Karyn, and her students to use their voices when writing. Prompted by the births of granddaughters Haley and Clara in 2006, she, too, now speaks through written words, sharing a story she encountered in her own backyard! She and her husband, Rick, share that backyard in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, with Bailey and the neighborhood children.
About the artist
Pilar P. Luna is a freelance designer working towards a graphic design degree. Her family originates from Lima, Peru, and immigrated here in 1964. Born in Kansas City, she now lives in Overland Park, Kansas, working as a portrait photographer, and enjoys doing illustration work of families, pets, and children.
