Terror attacks cause the nation’s Capitol to be moved to the old site of Liberty, North Carolina. Some of the most dangerous criminals in captivity are apparently escaping from prisons around the country, without a clue. US Army, Special Weapons Teams are being quietly moved to the new Pentagon in Liberty, D.C. Political leaders in the United States and around the world are disappearing or going into hiding. The President becomes aware of a conspiracy against the United States and perhaps parts of the rest of the world. A U.S. Army Colonel, armed with a new special weapon of destruction, is in a race against time to stop an unbelievable invasion by an unknown Army.
Charles R. Beaumont spent 27 years active duty in the U.S. Army. Most of that time was spent in Military Intelligence and Security.
He trained intelligence personnel and military police against the possibility of terrorist attack. He performed security inspections, and intelligence investigations around the world.
Beaumont was an Adjunct Professor for Central Texas College and the University of Maryland at their overseas campuses. He taught Business, Management, and Government courses.
An avid reader of suspense fiction, Beaumont has put together a large amount of research material for a number of books. He is now applying his full time to the field of writing. His father, the first C. R. Beaumont, gave him the idea for the book, “Liberty, USA”.
When he is not writing, he spends time with his beautiful wife, Pranee, three sons, and five grand-daughters. He also enjoys the ocean and scuba diving, when he has time.
CHAPTER ONE
Air France Flight 485 to Dulles International 1430 hours, Thursday, 22 Jan 09
John Burkhart was sitting in business class with his back to the wall. The fact that he was still alive impressed even him. He slowly checked each person in the section. There were two men wearing dark suits, sitting across from him. They were carrying on a continuing line of boring conversation. They appeared to be lower level executives from a large firm. There was no one sitting in Burkhart's section. There were fourteen men and two women in business class. None appeared to be dangerous. That was the problem. The dangerous ones never look dangerous. He felt his jacket pocket to see if it was still there. It was. That disk would put him at the top of the agent list. He was sent to the Vatican to find some leverage on the Pope and the Holy See. What he found was beyond all imagination. What he found scared even him. Please Lord, let the flight land safely. Dulles, by now is covered with Military Intelligence agents and police alerted to some sort of trouble. If I’m not shot getting off the flight, I might just make it.
Southwest Flight 2218 to Liberty, LDC 1630 hours, Saturday, 24 Jan 09
Master Sergeant Nick Carver looked over his men sitting around the Southwest flight to Liberty. Fourteen of the most dangerous men in the world. They were the best the Army had.
