Carolyn Jones-Carter
A spiritually motivated book that has been in the process of being created through the experiences I have encountered throughout my entire life. This is a book that will inspire anyone who feels that their life is not what they bargained for, that life is indeed a continuous journey on the path towards the best that they can be. It is a book of optimism, hope, love and of the all encompassing love of God.
Carolyn was a utilily analyst for 33 years. After retirement, she began her long delayed passion of writing, both poetry and fiction. She has already published one book of poems called
Poems from the Edge: A Book of Poems and is currently working on her first novel.
Over the Rainbow
Life sometimes can seem so utterly mean
Things can happen that can destroy your self-esteem
People callously treat you with pure disdain
Till it is difficult one’s pride to retain
But circumstances are not written in stone
Actions of others have a way of losing their tone
How others treat you does not change your soul
Pride goeth before the fall when you are in control
For it is how you honestly feel about yourself
That determines your true immutable sense of worth
You must reach down deep inside yourself to extract the greatest prize
For residing deep within your soul your finest qualities are destined to arise
Life sometimes comes at you out of left field
Circumstances catch us off guard and we begin to reel
But that is why it’s always been called the game of life
Sometimes we’re down to the ninth inning at the pitcher’s site
We have no control over what the other team has or what the other team lacks
We just have to put on our glove and be prepared for whatever comes back
For life can come at you from any angle, at any speed or from any perspective
Our inner strength comes from being always proactive and spiritually introspective
Though life isn’t always easy, there is always a lesson to be gained
What might seem to be harsh and cruel could be building blocks to fame
For God let us know when he created the earth and then it to man bestowed
That love, happiness, and contentment, along with God are just over the rainbow.
