Just Another Blessed Brother

Jabb and Lynette had not seen each other in years, literally since they

both graduated high school some 25 years earlier.  So imagine their surprise at their “chance” meeting at Lynette’s 25th high school class reunion.  Jabb had not changed much in appearance, he was still that tall, dark, beautiful Black man that Lynette remembered from high school and Lynette was still that naturally beautiful Black female that Jabb remembered, oh! how he remembered her from being a cheerleader and that smile that lit up his day!

So, when their eyes met that night, Jabb knew that she was the woman he had asked for from God and Lynette felt that same special feeling inside.

Theirs is a riveting Christian love story that takes them through deep valleys and tall mountains that they both climb separately and then together; fighting their fleshly desires and finding love despite both of their physical disabilities.

How would they handle their newly found relationship with God and now with each other…this is their story as Jabb comes to the realization that God must come first in his life and that he is Just Another Blessed Brother!

On May 31, 2003, I wrote these words, " Talking to you these past two days has been simply wonderful for me...in a way that I may not be able to explain. I feel a closeness between us, and I know we just met.. and I know we just began to talk and really get to know each other, but I already like what I am feeling. You've asked me out on a date, and I think that is very special indeed...I want to see you, but don't want to appear "in a hurry" or "desperate" or "needy"...even though at times, I am these things and more".

On June 6, 2003 “--- Now that I’ve seen you ...I know that I will want to see more of you, be with you more, and try to figure out what it is that we will be doing together. Your spirit thrills me and sendsa tingle through me like none other I have ever known. Your care and concern make me feel very special and needed and necessary". "I know that I have found love and that love is you".

And this is how the love affair began for Jabb and Lynette that warm Sunday afternoon in Chapel Hill, NC. Their lives had been so chaotic before they met again...Jabb had just spent the last five years of his life in great turmoil and strife, having his career cut short due to an accident on the job. Now he was on disability, unable to work. He knew that he needed someone in his life, a good woman to stand beside him during his daily walks with life, but he had searched for her for the past five years and still had not been able to find her. He prayed for God to send him a good, Christian woman who came from a similar childhood backgroundas the one he had growing up in the small town of Maxton. He had no idea that he would meet her and fall in love with her in such a short amount of time. Was he ready? Could he make any kind of commitment to Lynette and could he trust her after all of the hurts that prior relationships had caused him?

Lynette, on the other hand, knew that she had just gotten out of a relationship with a man whom she trusted with her heart, and her heart had been broken. The wounds were still fresh, and she did not know if she would ever open her heart to a man again. Lynette had prayed to God also to send her someone this time that would love her for the woman she had become, not just because of her looks, the clothes that she wore or the position she held at her job.

She was the Director of a Children's Program that worked with children who had been physically and mentally abused, and the job kept her extremely busy and tired. But she was rewarded each time she was able to help a child and a family overcome these obstacles. Lynette's girlfriends had talked her into going to her 25th high school class reunion. This would be the first time since graduation from high school that she would have seen them and they would have seen her. So, she was a little hesitant, but in the end decided to go. She had bought the perfect dress to make her grand entrance, because she had not seen her classmates in twenty-five years and knew she had to look spectacular. Something was willing her to go to this reunion, she wasn't quite sure what it was. She knew only that she had to go. Was she ready? Could she possibly meet the man of her dreams at her reunion? And, if he was there, could she just "let go and let GOD"? This story is theirs. Theirs is a story of love, trust, compassion, decisions, risk-taking and letting go of old wounds...theirs is a spiritually riveting story of a relationship filled with all of the "right stuff".
