A GAME OF DEATH
The leopard came
It devoured a child from the leper’s apartment.
That was dismissed as a game.
But again, the leopard came
5 And carried away the heir apparent.
They all cried “what a shame!”
Search parties were sent
Down the hills and over the mountains.
They searched as they went,
10 Over the hills and under the fountains.
The leopard left his trace
Which they followed all the way,
Through the wood and in every place,
As they searched from day to day.
15 They felt the leopard’s nearness,
They feared the leopard’s fight
Conscious of their powerlessness,
They were always ready to take a flight.
Yet they laboured yet they searched
20 For the leopard and the throne.
They may search till they are tired
But Dayo cares for none,
