About the Book
This book is a combination of an editorial written by myself for the literary magazine, JAW, co-produced by myself and a friend for 2 years, the beginning of a screenplay, some poetry, and several short stories. I started the book 9 years ago as the thesis for my undergraduate BA degree which I received from Goddard College, VT. Originally it also included a survey of one novelist, Elizabeth Berg, and three famous women poets, in order to place myself in the field of writing and compare/contrast the growth pattern my writing took through the years. I elected to take those out, to avoid any copyright issues, and prove this book is about a 'dream fullfillment' and what I hope to be the beginning of my book publishing career. As a single Mom of three boys now for 8 years I have struggled to succeed and have grown in ways which I never thought possible. I finished my BA in English and Women's History, and moved on to pursue my MA in Teaching, which I graduated with on September 11th, 2007. Although, I 'appear' to be poor, I am filled with 'riches'--spiritual ones! I hope this book serves as an inspiration for all single Mom's--to never give up on your dreams, they are there, waiting for you to find them and if we are to keep 'hope' alive for us and our children, we must not give up.
About the Author

My name is Gina Marie Lee—my maiden name is Gina Marie Guido. I was recently divorced for the 2nd time in my life and I can tell you it’s been no picnic. This book was started between 1998-2000 during the culmination of my undergraduate BA degree in English and Women’s History from Goddard College in Vermont. That was eight years ago. I graduated on September 11th, 2007 with my Masters degree in Teaching from Kaplan University. I live in the Upper Adirondack region of NY State and am the proud single mother of three beautiful boys, Joshua-13, Elijah-11 and Nicholas-9. This book is wholeheartedly dedicated to them. They deserve the wonder and contentment that life has to offer when we choose our own personal path to fulfillment and happiness. My real goal in publishing is to show them to never give up on your dreams—to keep trying and pushing that envelope in life—strive for what you want, because in the end it is our own hearts, minds and consciousness we sleep with at night.

“There was something about the planes crashing into the World Trade Center on that fateful day that reminded me of many Sci-Fi Novels and Movies I had seen and read from my teenage years.

It was then I started thinking about the scene from the movie, The Terminator…where Sarah Conner is driving her jeep pregnant with her future son who is to save mankind, stops to get gas in her jeep somewhere deep in the desert of Mexico—while her German Sheppard dog sits behind her and she speaks Spanish to the young man who takes her money and he makes a comment about a storm coming—she rubs her belly and all she can think about are the doomed possibilities of her son’s future and how she must at all costs protect him from it. In my mind those scenarios were playing, yet this time they seemed real—they were real and it scared me to my core.”

THE GATHERING/by Gina Lee-1998-1999

Once, a long time ago there was a man named Marsupial and a woman named Anastasia. They met in a time where women were priestesses and men were their adoring counterparts.

In this time the women, men and children all lived together in a communal setting. The women practiced the herbal healing arts and the men were builders, hunters, gatherers and warriors if needed.

The sweet kiss

Of the sun

Through my window

Throws a beam of light

Across my comforter

While the indented shapes

Cross the fold.

The sound of our voices

Mingling, touching, reaching,

And feeling their way through the
