Not long after my wife of 50 years passed away, I began reminiscing about our times together, and for that matter, my whole life down memory lane. This path would include my college days, my 3 years of service during WWII, my courting days and the fabulous times of raising 3 siblings. As an offshoot of my life, I felt the urge to write about seasons of the year, holidays, friends and family; and no poem would be complete without love. All this with some humor mixed in.
In 2008, my grand-daugher, Amy, her husband Alex and my daughter Diane thought that publishing my poems would be a great gift to me and I couldn't be more excited to finally share my book with you. I know you will enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.
Born on July 7th 1920, in Saugerties, New York. An only child of Albert and Ethel Carnright. In my lifetime I have graduated from the University of Alabama, where I was head cheerleader, and president of my junior class. I had three years of service in World War II, during which I was stationed in Maryland, Oregon and Germany before I was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in 1946. Soon after being discharged, I enrolled at New York University and received a Masters Degree in Education. I courted and married Emily on the 29th of September, 1949, had three wonderful children, Diane, James, Jr. and last but not least, John. I retired after 32 years at Dentsply International, the world's largest dental supply manufacturer. More of my life can be gleamed from several of my poems........!

The Book of Poems has 83 authentic poems; each of them an expression of my character, experiences and witt. Some are romantic, some are historical, some are inspirational, some are amusing and all are enjoyable.
I know you will enjoy reading my poems as much as I have enjoyed writing them over the years. And just so you know, I've already begun stacking up new ones for volume 2!!!!!!!
