Nadine Scharman
Chasing Rainbows follows the multicultural journey of a young American girl as she travels the world in search of the rainbow and the pot of gold. In each of the countries she visits -- (Mexico, China, Egypt, Nigeria, Japan, Russia, Italy, Spain, England and France) -- she greets people in their language and then asks them if they have found the rainbow. She learns that each of them has found it -- but not where she expected.

First, they flew to Mexico. Jaie had never been to Mexico before. Aunty Rose said, "I love Mexico and Mexican food. The food tastes spicy and hot just the way I like it."
They landed and got off the plane in Mexico City. There were so many people hustling about that they didn't know where to go. Finally, Aunty Rose said, "There is a shop near the school."
Jamie said, "Great idea!" and she decided to speak with a teacher at the shop.
"Hola, Professora."
The teacher replied, "Hola."
"Me llamo Jamie," Jamie responded.
The Professora said, "Me llamo Juanita."
"Have you found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?" asked Jamie.
The Professora thought for a moment. "Si, I am teaching children and I love it. It makes me so happy that every day I feel that the rainbow inside of me and the pot of gold is pouring out from my heart. I have found my pot of gold."
Jamie was disappointed and looked at Aunty Rose in dismay. "I feel happy for Senora Juanita, but at the same time I feel sad because that wasn't the answer that I wanted. Maybe no one has found the real rainbow and pot of gold."
She said, "Muchas gracias" to Senora Juanita, and they went on their way.
