About the Author

Angelique La Fon-Cox is a happily married wife of over ten years and a very proud mother of three beautiful children.  This book was inspired while teaching her then two year old daughter how to sing The Star Spangled Banner.  Angelique told Aven the story of Francis Scott Key and how it was he came to write our National Anthem. Even at the tender age of two years old, Aven understood the significance of the song.

From then on it has been a priority of Josh and Angelique's to teach their children the importance of respecting our flag, learning our countries history, appreciating their freedom and honoring the courageous Veterans who are responsible for that freedom.  They want their children to have the understanding of just how blessed they are to be Americans. Of course Kooshla and Saboo are learning about their country the United States of Abearica, but it is the hope that Amercian families will begin teaching their children early on to truly love and appreciate our country and hold it high in prayer.

Just then Mommy bear came outside.  “How is the decorating coming along?” she asked.  “Well, actually . . . we haven’t even started yet!”  Kooshla said with a giggle.  “We have been learning important things to appreciate and respect in our country, like our flag and our Veterans . . .”  “And our freedom!” Saboo added with a smile.

“Oh, how wonderful!”  Mommy bear exclaimed.  “Let me help you,” she said, as she picked up a blue star.  “It is important to know the history of our nation’s past and remember the lessons learned to help us live better lives in the future,” she said softly.  “What else should we know Mommy?”  Saboo asked. Mommy bear answered, “We should know about our great leaders that did important works for our country, like Presidents George Pawington, Thomas Bearfferson, Abearham Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt,  just to name a few.” She said.

“They are the four Presidents of the Mount Bearmore monument in the state of

South DaKoala.”  Daddy bear added.  “My favorite monument is The Statue of Libearty in Bear York Harbor,” he said.  “Oh, yes,” Mommy bear sighed.  “I will never forget the first time I saw her, such a magnificent sight to see.  The Statue of Libearty was placed in the harbor to welcome all those who come to our great nation.  Whenever critters see her they know she represents the place where dreams can come true; a place of freedom with hope for all.” She said with a smile.

“There are those who work to keep the spirit of our nation alive in our hearts by teaching the history of our nation, honoring our Veterans and helping those in need.” Daddy bear began, “Groups like the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution and the Soldier’s Angels who work to help take care of our troops when they are away from home.  We must all keep the love for our country strong and celebrate the

Fourth of July which is the birthday of our great nation!”
