This book is a collection of my favorite memories and I have included some great fishing tips. Although there have been books about fishing published before, this one is different in the fact that it's from the Lure Manufacturer's point of view, it's about the great stories of a life spent fishing and making lures.
The Northern Pike is my favorite sport fish, however I love to catch any species of fish, the northern pike is my specialty I have developed over 300 different lures, have become a professional fisherman and had a ton of fun.
I have won the Jackfish Lures field team angler of the year four times and have won the Field Team Biggest fish of the year twice, and won the MLWT Championship two times. My dad gave me the nickname Jackfish and it has stuck with me. I am the Founder and President of Jackfish Lures Non Toxic Tackle Co. Ltd. After years of time fishing and being outdoors I decided to help in cleaning up the lakes and rivers by developing a brand of Lead free lures & tackle designed for pike fishing and many more. We will get into the details of these awesome lures later.
My biggest influence in fishing has been my dad whom I consider the best pike fisherman in the world, of course he is my dad and I am a little biased but the facts are he has been the biggest influence on my fishing career. And he has been a big contributor to the development of many of the finest lures we make, along with my wife Laura, my mom and of course Big "D" and Diane, and Dad Makarowski.

Gary Carl Love
Born in Los Angeles California, and living in Colorado Springs and Tucson Arizona for years, as well as his current home in Athabasca, Alberta. Gary C Love Jr. has fished many waters from as far south as Arkansas, to Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona, California, and Montana. In Canada he has fished Alberta top to bottom and given Beautiful British Columbia's trout and salmon a real test, or is it the other way around and the fish tested him. He is skilled at catching over 32 different freshwater species of fish, and an expert at developing ways to catch them. The lures he designs are a by-product of his intense love of the sport of fishing. And is his gift to those looking to have fun on the water.
A run of prototype lures is manufactured using the
first tested and adjusted proto as the template. These lures
never see the light of day, as they are beaten and bashed and
stretched, pulled on with extreme force, and really punished.
The lure has to be able to take severe punishment, as they are
designed for big Northern Pike and Muskie. These fish can
destroy lures, and do it with ease.
If the tests are passed and everything looks good, we take
it to the next level, and a complete run with assorted colors
1 of each color is manufactured. These lures go straight to
the field team where they are field tested in every situation
possible and compared to other lures in our arsenal. Weather
conditions and seasonal climate changes, everything is taken
into consideration, and the lures tested hard. The lures have
to make a grade of 70% that means for our company to look at
bringing the lure into production it better work and work well.
Counting the fish caught by a particular color generates the
percentage, remember only 1 each of the colors was produced
for the fi eld team. So the fi sh count is added to the weather
conditions and compared to the other popular lures for the
same conditions and species of fish. It takes approximately 1
year to generate all the information needed. The color patterns
that make the minimum 70% grade are slated for production
and a large run of the lures is manufactured and distributed
to the field team. The field team will fish with these lures and
generate reports on how and where they used the lures and
what techniques they used with them and how many fish
they caught and the sizes, 2 and a half years work complete,
time it’s all done.
Once all the information is in we manufacture a large run
of the lures and we introduce them to the public at the trade
show. We are able to inform the fi sherman about where to
and how to use the lure to it’s fullest potential. They are given
a sample to look at and touch and feel and any questions they
have we have the answers. The most asked question is (Do
these catch fish?) our answer is (It has to get 70% or we don’t
make it) and we can stand behind our answer and know the
angler will catch fish with the lure. The best part of this job is
seeing the faces of the fishermen the next season at the show.
They tell their harrowing stories of the big fish they caught
and show the photos.
