The picture of me standing on the end of the plank was taken in 1994, when I was twenty four years old, on the San Mateo Creek Bridge in Hillsborough, California. I was at an elevation of three hundred and eighty six feet above the ground. I wasn’t tied off nor were there any safety nets. I was at a learning point in my life where I had total confidence in myself and was absolutely sure of my actions. It inspired this train of thought: You control every step you take, and although some steps may be more important than others, each one leads to the next. The wrong step at the wrong time could change your life.
