Young Man’s Fate is the first book in a series of books called Full Contact Warfare. It is an action adventure series, with stories that centre around martial arts and warfare.
The story starts in the first 10 years of the Hoktickan era. the Hoktickan's, are a race of octopus beings. This civilization includes; Astrologers, who are the spiritual spokesmen for their people. Craftsmen; Who craft beautiful statuettes, using a crystal that is found in deep water. There are also martial artists, who are trained by a man named Robuston.
The craftsmen like to trade with a tribe called the Naertide, who come from across their waters. These people love the crafted statuettes, so the Hoktickan's most prized possessions are traded without thought. As the locals are unhappy with the situation, a senate is formed. However, the members of the senate begin to take control of everybody's lives. The only thing that the senate has bred- is corruption! The only hope for the Hoktickan's now, is a young martial artist named Vilus and a divine astrologer named Liughvux. These men start a rebellion with intent to usurp the senate.
Barry Lumsden was born in 1979 in the small town of Kirkcaldy, Scotland.
He has studied many forms of martial arts including; Wado ryu, Praying mantis, Muay thai and is also a former part time Wrestler.
He also takes a keen interest in military history. Among his favorite warriors, are the Samurai and the Vikings.

Vilus decides to go deep water fishing by himself. Hoktickans need no tools when fishing, as they can hold their breath under water for up to half an hour.
He spots probably the biggest fish that he has ever seen! He catches it with both hands, then carries it back up to the surface. As he comes up, he marvels at the size of the fish, then he hears a voice.
YOUNG SENATOR 1- I think you'd better give us that!
VILUS- Is that a joke?
YOUNG SENATOR 2- We can use that fish at tomorrows banquet to honour Skirom.
YOUNG SENATOR 1- So you'd better give it to us!
VILUS- Bury your head in the sand, idiot.
Senator one attacks Vilus. Vilus hits him with a side-kick to the face, which sends him to the ground. Vilus then stomps him in the chest as he lies there. Then senator two attacks. Vilus punches him in the stomach then takes him down with a hip-throw.
VILUS- Had enough?
Senator two attacks again, but as he runs in, Vilus puts all of his anger into his next blow. He uses a Ridge-Hand, which sends down senator two, putting him out cold. Senator one goes up to his felled companion then checks his pulse at the wrist.
YOUNG SENATOR 1- You killed him! You will pay for this!
Vilus checks the senators pulse to confirm his fears. senator two is dead.
In a panic, Vilus runs off to Liughvux's house. Once he gets there, he knocks on the door wildly. Then Liughvux answers.
