Ivet Graham-Morgan
This book is the first in a series of five books. It is the story of a scarlet macaw that is taken from its home in the tropical rainforests of South America. The bird is being treated very well by its young owner but it longs to be set free. It dreams of the day when it will once again soar high above the trees in its natural habitat.
A former school teacher, Ivet Graham-Morgan grew up in the picturesque Caribbean. As a child she spent many fun-filled hours playing in the unspoiled beauty of the sprawling countryside — mountain springs, wetlands, natural rivers and ponds, tall grasses, voluminous trees, and prolific shrubs. Surrounded by wildlife, the birds were her favorite—gracefully flitting from tree to tree, their brightly colored wings spreading in splendor as they gave their sprightly dance and filled the air with magical sounds. The pleasant memories of the enchanting sight and sounds of tropical birds have inspired Ms. Graham-Morgan to share these recollections with her grand children in the form of stories.
Ms. Graham-Morgan feels that these beautiful tropical birds are at their best in the wild and has chosen to give the birds’ point of view—in this case, the majestic scarlet macaw.
I am a scarlet macaw. I belong to the parrot family. I would have been happy with just being called a parrot or a scarlet macaw but my owner has decided that my name is Peter. Yes, Peter the parrot. That’s how most people refer to me.
