“Where have you been squirt? Sleeping in to let us do all the work?” Colton asked with a hint of anger in his deep voice as he leaned on his pitchfork.
“Well yeah, Colt, did not you know all babies of the house have to have their sleep?” Terrence mocked Krypton, sending the two of them into a laughing fit.
Krypton pushed them both aside so he could get to Star’s stall. “Shut up, Terry!” he replied angrily, knowing it would end his brother’s mockery at once.
Even though his back was turned, Krypton could imagine Terrence’s face turning red with furry. He hated to be called by that feminine name.
“I told you never to call me that!” he growled. When Krypton kept walking, Terrence advanced swiftly and tackled him from behind, wrestling Krypton to the ground.
“Let me go!” Krypton shouted. Terrence had pinned his arms to his side, so Krypton could only hope to hit him as he swung his makeshift work boots. He could hear Colton laughing at the sight of their fight.
Terrence finally wrestled Krypton off the ground and threw him into the only empty stall in the stables. Before Krypton had the chance to even stand, Terrence had shut the sliding door and locked it.
Why do I bother staying in this household? Krypton thought to himself. A warm trickle down his chin told him that Terrence had busted Krypton's lip.
“Looks like you’re going to be late for breakfast,” Colton chimed in as the two of them started to walk away.
“Yeah,” Terrence answered, shaking the hay off of his clothes. “Don’t worry, we won’t save you anything.” They continued on out of the stables with broad smiles.
