Another aspect of camping is time set aside to read.  One must read while camping.  It is a very American thing to do.  Read.  To do this at a campsite you need to hang up your hammock, which is done the next morning.  Do the tent, the lights and the dinner the first night.  In the morning string the hammock.  I assume you see why we don't string that object at night.  You will be making your way to the facility and most folks don't light their hammocks.  Hammocks are for day use for reading.  Now you have your hammock set up and you crawl in.  Crawling into a hammock is vastly entertaining for those folks who are standing around watching you.  Hammock crawling always makes for a good show.  I've watched it many a time.  I imagine my own crawling in is a great production as well.

Now what?  So you are in the hammock.  I guarantee you didn't manage to crawl in there with your book still in your hand.  Your blankie is yonder and your drink is beneath you. Someome must now come help and hand you the needed blankie which they must now tuck around you.  Tucking the blanket in is imperative, because I assure you that on the calmest of camping days a cool breeze will come up as soon as you have done the crawling in to that hammock.  Next the book.  It is handed to you.  I don't know why.  I have never seen anyone in a hammock tucked into their blankie acutally read a book.  The book gets rested on your belly and you are gone.  Gone to the world.  I am talking Z's here.  Snoreville.  If you don't believe me then you are not a true camper and you don't own a hammock.  A person with a hammock can be a good friend.  Other folks see you catching Z's in the cool breeze of the campground and they covet your hammock once you are out.  A hammock stays occupied for hours.  By several different folks.  A hammock is a one-man paradise and many a friend has he who owns the hammock.  Rock on.
