About the Book

Self Recognition, Your Path to Love, Peace and Fulfillment, is a practical self-help book designed to permanently transform your life by assisting you in becoming healthier, clearer, and happier. It also offers a unique opportunity to understand and experience how to create successful and rewarding professional and personal relationships.

This is the most comprehensive and practical teaching about how to live fully ever offered in book format. It offers you a precise method to effectively and permanently improve your life. Self Recognition introduces 189 insights, or universal truths, and illustrates each of these with detailed case histories from the author’s experience as a teacher and counselor. The author then describes a very precise exercise to allow you to do a unique in-depth self-awareness process related to each truth, and to achieve immediate clarity about your issues and problems related to this truth. To help you get the most from each exercise, the author gives a specific example from her life, which guides you to a deeper level of honesty than you might be able to achieve on your own. At the end of each exercise, the author offers follow-up comments that guide you to the appropriate affirmative action that leads to lasting change.

The approach is experiential. You will get your hands on the specific things about your life that are causing pain or dysfunction, and be able to see how to make the changes that will resolve them for good.

The style is clear, concise, informal ... you’ll enjoy the book while you learn from it. And, you can test the process and get results immediately. Each time you use the book you will achieve still higher levels of understanding. You will be delighted to see that the process works, and the more you use it, the better it works.

"Twenty years ago, Radha Conrad led group therapy and sharing meetings at the Maui Zendo that brought our community together and helped each of us to be more closely in touch with our wellsprings. Before then and since her work has touched thousands. Now she has produced a book of her wisdom for the wider community. What fortune!" --Robert Aitken, Retired Master, Honolulu Diamond Sangha.

"One of the great blessings of my life is having Radha Conrad as a teacher. After my first meeting with her, where she led me with clarity and compassion through a place of deep hurt, I knew I had met someone who could lead me to my true self. Her teachings range from simple and practical to deeply spiritual, depending on the needs of her students. She has patiently supported and taught me how to do my own inner work, giving me the ultimate gift, my path to a real and satisfying life." --Rod Birney MD, Dipl. ABPN, Psychiatrist and Sufi Teacher.

FEAR

Most of us live our lives motivated by fear. What motivates us affects what we create and how we create it. Fear contracts our body and is the emotional component of disease. Fear limits our potential greatness. We spend our lives afraid we will not get what we want or afraid we will lose what we have. Fear causes us to judge ourselves and others harshly. Fear keeps us focused on our differences and weakens our ability to have essential contact with ourselves and with one another. We will create negativity and disharmony in our relationships relative to the degree of fear that exists; whether with husband, wife, child, boss, or between nations.

EXERCISE 90

MY FEAR OF NOT HAVING ENOUGH ALLOWS ME TO JUSTIFY MY GREEDINESS.

Ester had a great deal of money. She refused to share it with her family as well as those in need. She would fight with her husband because she felt "he was generous to a fault." Although Ester was a multimillionaire, she suffered from poverty consciousness. She had been poor as a child and believed there was never enough money to assure her of never being poor again. Until she became aware of her negative beliefs about wealth and released them, she wasn’t able to experience and enjoy her wealth.

Exercise: Write six negative beliefs you have about wealth:

Example: There is never enough money to go around.

Understanding your beliefs about money is a necessary and important step in seeing how you limit your wealth. It is not how much money you have that determines your wealth; it is your ability to be grateful, and your willingness to acknowledge all you do have, that makes you feel wealthy.
