About the Book

This exquisite book is a refreshing montage of inspiring poetry that skillfully engages the reader. Its diverse subject matter includes encouragement, insights on life, human nature, friendship, family, spirituality, and even a poem commissioned by a former professional athlete depicting his career.

Some of the poems have depth in their message. Some are lighthearted and amusing. Some are surprisingly blunt, and others simply uplift the soul or soothe the heart. This impressive compilation of verse also sports various poetic formats.

The common thread that does run through the poems in this book is they’re all well versed, having continuity of theme; an expansive, yet uncomplicated, vocabulary; a precise and commanding use of rhyme; exemplary tempo; and an uncanny ability to address the reader in what seems like actual conversation. In short, the poems that grace the pages of this book truly are ABSOULUTES in Rhythmic Rhyme.

"‘Absoulutes’ is a clever merging of two words which Christine aptly uses to signify the type of material one can expect to find in this book. Her poems embody absolutes that either appeal to, or directly target, the soul. They definitely touch mine. Thanks Christine!"

--Anthony Davis, Businessman, public speaker and former professional athlete.

About the Author

I don't write for financial gain:
I write to express my passion
On varying aspects of life . . .
When I see them through God’s wisdom.

After He’s fueled me with insight,
God stirs up my thoughts till they flow
In rhythmic rhyme to form a poem
That says what He wants folks to know.

In some of the poems God brings hope,
While others have words that console.
Some contain praise of chastisement
And some simply nourish the soul.

Sometimes God prompts poems that reason,
To logically prove vague truths sound.
Or poems that unveil choice insights
Which I find extremely profound!

I also write personal poems
To friends or to someone I love,
Or poems of appreciation,
And sometimes to my Lord above

I placed my best poems in this book,
Hoping they’ll benefit you . . .
If they’ll bless someone else you know,
Then they should be reading them too.

God bless you as you read.

Obstacles Can Be Blessings

So an obstacle has presented itself . . .
Boldface it stands in your way.
It’s risen before you defiantly,
Intending to ruin your day.

It can only succeed if you view it
Through hopelessness and despair.
So focus on how to sidestep its stance:
Don’t dwell on it’s being there!

Your perception determines its life span,
So, though it’s a huge stumbling block,
Don’t perceive it as permanent stone:
‘Cus it could be vanishing chalk!

For it will no longer be visible
If you have a new route’s view . . .
So bypass the thing and reach for your goal
Down a different avenue.

You see, obstacles aren’t just hindrances
Intended to cause you delays . . .
They serve as guides to additional maps
That outline some better ways.

So view the obstruction that’s in your path
As merely a detour sign.
In retrospect, when your goal is achieved,
You’ll see it was God’s design:

He sees the entire journey you’re on
From its beginning to end,
And uses diverse means to close wrong doors:
Obstacles are one of them.

So instead of letting this stop your stride,
Choose from options you’ve assessed . . .
Then surge ahead on the path you select
To find this was for the best!

Indescribable You

Somehow the word "special" isn’t enough
To describe who I know you to be.
The word "precious" is inadequate too,
Although you truly are that to me!

And the words "magnificent" and "great"
Only convey certain parts of you . . .
Just as "lovable" and "adorable"
Alone do you an injustice too!

Yes, the words "astute" and "intelligent"
Speak truth, but only state that you’re smart
And "dynamic," "impressive," "terrific"
All just display aspects of you in part.

There are also the words "admirable,"
"Amazing," "outstanding," "wonderful," "wise;"
Though they all can be linked together, they
Still can’t express who you are in my eyes!

Even in phrases, words don’t say enough!
Language is lacking that one needed word
Which will rightly portray "fabulous" you:
It hasn’t been formed yet, written, or heard.

So you’re summed up with a substitute word:
It’s one that omits all insightful view.
That word I phrase to define who you are
Is simply, the "indescribable" you!

Respectfully Yours

Dear God,
I’m taking time to write
To thank you for the day and night,
And all the pretty things I see
That you spoke forth and caused to be.

I want to thank you too, my Love,
For watching o’re me from above,
And making sure that things go right
For me throughout my earthly plight.

I know I’ve hurt you in the past,
But God, your love is unsurpassed!
You stayed around and waited there,
For me to let you show you care.

And now, sweet Lord, I see your light!
It shines before my face so bright!
I want to live with you on high
So God, I’ll never say "good-bye."

Instead I’ll rest within your love,
Then rise like Jesus up above
And spend eternity with you . . .
'Cus God, you’ll never make me blue.

Now it’s time to say "until,"
And God, I pledge to do your will.
Please keep me safe from Satan’s wild?
I love you God!
Your Grateful Child
