This book describes how to acquire the most important ingredient in one's lifetime: Discipline. With it, you can achieve everything; without it, you will struggle to exist. Those who do will have no limitations in accomplishing their wildest aspirations.
Discipline is unique because it is simple, short, and straightforward. It shows you how to block life’s unexpected obstacles by establishing rules and guidelines and, more importantly, adhering to them. It shows you how to complete your goals by setting priorities. And it shows you how to prepare for battle everyday, to pick yourself up mentally, to never become complacent, thus illustrating how to always remain focused no matter what the circumstances.
The book describes Harris Kern’s interpretation of Discipline, what it meant to him, and what it can mean to your own future. It also challenges the common notion that success can be obtained by simply applying a formula, without having to work hard.

Success is Only One Reward
How do you define "success"? Some people measure it by money or material possessions, others by the number of rungs climbed up the corporate ladder. Success is defined differently for different people, but I can tell you that for me it is one word: HAPPINESS. This is not some lame excuse not to excel; on the contrary, what makes me happy is growth in every aspect of my life.
It is so easy to relate success as the sole benefit of Discipline; people do it all the time. (I did it for over twenty years.) However, there is much more to Discipline. If you were to prioritize the benefits of acquiring Discipline, success would be low on the list. Topping the list has to be its support when you are emotionally down, an aid to help you get back on your feet again. Sure, friends are important and great for sharing both the good and bad times, but they cannot always be there.
Second on the list has to be how Discipline makes you a better all around person, excelling in personal and professional values. It is feeling good about yourself. It is also about helping others.
Discipline also helps when you are ill or have an injury. It helps you recover at an accelerated pace. No, it is not a magic healer, but it keeps you from feeling sorry for yourself and it focuses your energy on positive thinking and accomplishing your goals! It is like your go–to person in football when you desperately need a touchdown.
Lastly comes success. Without a doubt, Discipline will make you successful. Your career will take off, and so will your financial assets. Everything you touch will turn to gold. You will have an incredible appetite to achieve.
Discipline will make you a better all around person. You will rise to a different level – a level that will allow you to achieve more than you can possibly imagine. With this new foundation comes responsibility to help others. You are now a role model with something to offer that very few other people have.
