About the Book

Peek and Boo is a story for my grandson Emerson. It is a story that would surely touch every kid’s life.

About the Author

For many years, Valerie Larwick’s career was focused in the emergency medical field. First as a volunteer for a local fire department, and then for several years, an affiliation with the American Heart Association, which would eventually lead her to write and illustrate many first-aid training manuals for the general public. She worked on an ambulance and then went on to teach at a local community college and then established an EMS training facility in her local area. Since 2002, leaving EMS work behind, Larwick decided to return to her files from her artistic past. Finding her stories and characters waiting for happy endings, and new ideas wildly excited to be created on paper. She has written and published two other books, one called “A Cat Named Frenchy Blue,” and the other, “If A Bear Stops by For Tea.” Each book in rhyme is dedicated for each one of her grandchildren with love. As a young child in the 1960s, Larwick spent much of her time in her mother’s world as an accomplished oil painter and teacher. Her mother also a member of the Portland Oregon Art Society allowed Valerie invaluable time with famous artists as they worked. These artists encouraged Valerie to be as creative as she dreamed and she listened. One of Valerie Larwick’s favorite artists/illustrators was famous Portland artist Colista Dowling, who painted Larwick when she was a little girl holding her doll, a precious water color she holds dear to her heart. Larwick is both inspired and humbled by the majestic greatness of the Northwest countryside. Stories now fill her files and await illustrated characters to bring them to life, a process she gladly embraces.
