You Can't Scare Me, Mia Mouse!

“Today” Mia said to herself, “I will scare my friends with my loudest scary boo scream! But first, I must practise.” So she did. She screeched in the bathroom and scared herself silly whilst putting on her finest dress. In the kitchen she sloshed her milk through the air when she screamed a scream so extraordinarily loud that it made the lice in her woodwork pack their belongings and leave! Outside the scorching sun grew high in the sky. Mia, proud of her scary boo scream, was ready to leave the house. She skipped merrily through fields of barley, screaming and shouting as she went and it wasn’t long before she saw a roaring river in the distance. “Fantastic! Alligators House,” Mia said as she clapped her hands together and pounced amongst some reeds to hide. Across the river, Alligator was relaxing in the cool water. She was doing backstroke and shooting huge fountains of water from her long snout. As Alligator drifted into sight, Mia took a deep breath and screamed... BOO! But no words came out! She’d expected Alligator to jump out of her scales with fright but she just kept on swimming, not even noticing Mia was there at all. Mia tried again. She took an even deeper breath and screamed... BOO! Still nothing happened. “Oh no,” she whispered softly to herself, “I’ve lost my voice!”
