About the Book

The Muslim League, a party which championed the cause of Paksitan was set up on 28 December 1906 in Dhaka, with the following objectives: 1. To promote among Muslims a feeling of loyalty to the British government and to remove misunderstandings; 2. To protect and advance the political rights and interests of Muslims, and to represent properly their needs and aspirations to the British government; and 3. To prevent the rise of hostility among Muslims toward other communities. The Muslim League and the rulers of Pakistan, to date, have very sincerely served the British and the American interests in Pakistan and in the region. The bitter fact is that the landed aristocracy, the Generals and the security forces now control Pakistan and its destiny; and sad thing is even they don’t know what is the destiny of this unfortunate country and how to reach there. When the British Raj ended in India on 15 August 1947, the State of Jammu and Kashmir also gained its independence. The Government of Pakistan acknowledged this fact by entering a Standstill Agreement with the Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan violated the Agreement and attacked Jammu and Kashmir on 22 October 1947.

About the Author

Dr Shabir Choudhry has done extensive research on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, and is rightly acclaimed as a leading scholar and writer on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute and India Pakistan relations. He is author of many books on Jammu and Kashmir and India Pakistan relations. Some of his books are banned by Pakistan. Booksellers are ordered not to store or sell books written by Dr Shabir Choudhry. This is a clear violation of a right of expression; but it also shows Pakistan’s nervousness and anxiety to hide facts from their own people and people of Gilgit Baltistan and Pakistani Occupied Kashmir. His area of specialism is Jammu and Kashmir, India Pakistan relations and extremism and terrorism. He regularly visits the UN Human Rights sessions in Geneva; and many of his speeches are produced in book forms. Because of his political and written work he cannot travel to his homeland, which is occupied by Pakistan. Pakistani authorities refused to renew his National Identity Card, which is extremely essential for people in Pakistan and areas occupied by Pakistan, as that is an evidence of individuals existence. Despite all the odds, Dr Shabir Choudhry says, the fight will continue.
