A disturbing novel of the future, in which Great Britain’s obsession for the ‘Beautiful Game’ has led the repressive authorities to enforce it as the official religion. 

In fact, all other faiths have been banned, and heretics – together with all other criminal elements – have been deported to the National Penal Colony, formerly known as the Isle of Wight.

On the mainland there is full employment, owing to the Government’s policy of W.O.S – ‘Work or Starve.’

Free speech is frowned upon, so when a voice of protest is heard crying from the wilderness, the ‘Preacher’ is immediately branded as a wanted man. 

Ordered to hunt him down is Jette Black, a sexy captain in the dreaded Sports Police.  A succession of wild and exciting encounters follows, by the end of which the cruel, cool chick begins to question her adversary’s identity.  Is he Christ  or the Anti-Christ?

About the Author

Once called the 15^th most influential man in England, Ken Russell was born in 1927, the year talkies were born.  Spent most of his childhood in the cinema watching Hollywood musicals.   Spent his teens at Nautical College, Pangbourne, where he was regularly beaten for breaking bounds to watch Hollywood musicals. 

After making 3 amateur films himself, he landed a plum job on Monitor, the famous BBC-TV Arts programme, where he made prize-winning drama-documentaries.  Later he turned to the big screen, making a number of spectacular films including Tommy, Women in Love, The Boy Friend, Altered States, Music Lovers, Savage Messiah, Lisztomania, Valentino, Lair of the White Worm, Crimes of Passion, The Devils and Fall of the Louse of Usher.  All in all he has directed over 80 films for screen and TV.  He has also directed a number of innovative opera productions, from Madam Butterfly to Stravinsky’s Rake’s Progress.

He has written 6 books, including Mike and Gaby’s Space Gospel and Brahms Gets Laid.
