A new vision enthralls me. A flag, with five intertwined rings in the center, waves in all its victorious glory. Four rings represent the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of the self. The fifth ring represents the unconscious and conscious interplay that weaves these dimensions together in our everyday lives. I think that's where God is. It is the center ring on the top row. I am standing on the platform in front, with crowds of people sitting in the stands and cheering. The cheers are for all those that have been oppressed and awakened to transformation. There are many paths that have led us to this same destination. The applause is for me. My spirit reigns as buoyant as the eight year old's determination to remain afloat in the pool. I've surfaced. I just swam the butterfly stroke, the most difficult one of all. I am in the Olympics. The gold medal has been placed around my neck.

Terror seizes Carrie as she awakens to beads of sweat trickling onto her pillow. She fades back into a dream that reveals a steep staircase looming above her. A figure weighs heavily against her side, as she struggles upward, every step a tremendous effort. She knows this is her destiny. Sobs overtake her as she experiences overwhelming relief when the arduous ascent is finally over. The dream again takes her back down to the bottom of the stairs. She knows, without a doubt, the dream has revealed her life. The real journey has not yet begun. The reader is taken into Carrie's thought processes through her husband's illness, a difficult marriage, and finally, divorce. As Carrie relies upon God to carry her through these tragic events, she discovers spiritual experiences and insights along the way. Self-preservation forces Carrie to progressively detach from herself until she completely unravels. The reader discovers that the story is about more than the dream. It is about Carrie's spiritual transformation, as she puts her life back together. In the process, the author inspires the reader toward his own healing journey. As Carrie awakens to the powerful spirit within her, the message ultimately becomes the truth - that we are all powerful, creative, beautiful and wonderful beings!
About the Author
Carrie Cunningham has held positions as a special education teacher, school counselor, and regular classroom teacher for the past thirty-three years. She has served as a Priest and an Elder in her church. She holds a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from California State Fresno, and has obtained both the Mild/Moderate Specialist Credential and Multiple Subjects Credential in the state of California. She has conducted, instructed, and participated in numerous community workshops and trainings for adults, including counseling and spiritual growth topics. Her daughter Erin graduated from medical school and is working as a PA in a pediatric clinic. Kayla is completing her BA degree and continuing her education to become a therapist. Carrie enjoys spending time with her daughters. She also enjoys writing music, attending fairs and festivals, traveling, reading, and the outdoors. Carrie is passionate about telling her story. She is available to engage in interviews and speak to groups that need her message. She is well respected, and easily approachable. She and Gary, her companion, live in the San Francisco Bay Area.
