About the Author

The book Snuze was started in 2004 when my husband and I were on holiday in the Channel Island of Guernsey. We had a small fishermans cottage there which we used to visit as often as we could, but having to leave it to it’s own devices sometimes month after month, when visiting we found that mice and other creatures had taken up residence. The Understairs Cupboard War was very real and started me off writing. Initially just for a story to tell my grandchildren it seemed to take off and have a life of its own! During the interim years when I lost my husband Richard to cancer and found a second husband in James who also died of cancer. The book was forgotten and it is only now that I have re-read and re-written it. Snuze of course is a figment of my imagination. My thanks go to my husband Richard who was at the time writing his own book which I was typing out as he finished one page after another. I was quite a quick typist and had to wait quite a lot for the next page, hence my starting my own book writing. Others who have bestowed encouragement will know who they are but I will name them anyway. James Mooney, Denis Wick, Alan Colclough, Cheryl Bernstein. Rose Love, Vivien Edmonds, My children, Dominic, Theodore, Duncan and Danae, and my Grandchildren, Sapphire, Dylan, Kayleigh, Kyle, Safiya, Jack and Zaiden. My Great Grandchild Ziggy not to be left out! Eve Rutherford lives on her own in Poole, Dorset. Special thanks and acknowledgements go to the illustrator Kevin Bolton of kevart@live.co.uk for all the illustrations used.
