About the Author

I began writing short stories initially in 2002. Almost immediately I began to approach publishers and agents from the writers guides available to me at that time and the replies I received were in the main extremely encouraging and positive. Out of the blue an online publisher made me an offer to publish my work and to my delight my short story collections began to sell and I began to receive small amounts in the way of royalties. A local newspaper “The Hamilton Advertiser” did an article on my work and this was followed by an appearance on local television called , appropriately enough for a Scottish author , Thistle Television. Another two articles by “The Hamilton Advertiser “ followed that and then a national newspaper “The Sunday Post” featured me twice. Somewhere around 2006 or so I wrote my first novel “Body Language” which was immediately purchased in bulk by the prestigious Glasgow Library “The Mitchell Library” my first novel “ Body Language” is Glasgow Sixties crime fiction introducing Lassiter an investigative crime reporter and ex-gang member himself. Lassiter has many friends on both sides of the law as he investigates a thirty year old murder. Authentic Glasgow street violence and dialogue abounds. I believe in realism. When I write fiction. “Write what you know” they told me and I was there in Sixties Glasgow. My success with “Body Language” encouraged me to write my second novel featuring the same characters. “Bad Form” followed hot on the heels of “Body Language” Library talks followed about that time. My work is now on Kindle, Smashwords, Authorsden Librarything and various other online outlets. Scottish television made a short film about me entitled “A New Direction” in 2013 which was sponsored by The Open University which was a fabulous experience. Since then my Amazon Kindle books, which were on sale long before Authorhouse re-issued the re-formatted Body Language , have increased in sales dramatically. My Kindle books now sell in the following countries USA Canada United Kingdom Italy and Germany My most recent public appearances have been as part of a panel of self published authors at Glasgow`s Aye Write Festival at the Mitchell Library in Glasgopw and an ensuing appearance as guest author at Blantyre Library`s 60th Anniversary celebration.
