About the Book

In the lounge of the Lincolnshire Aviator pub, situated deep in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds in England, just over a mile and a half down the road from the old air base, some locals were in deep conversation about the expected arrival from London of an American couple. The couple were expected to arrive that very evening, and due to an unfortunate overheard remark by the landlord of the pub, Jack Hastings, to his wife, Jean, gossiping and speculation were now rife in the lounge and public bars about the reason for the Americans’ visit. Jack had been talking casually about the reasons for the couple’s visit to Jean, saying the couple was more than just a little bit interested in the old air base down the road and that a relative of theirs flew from the base with The Pathfinders during the Second World War. That chat between Jack and Jean Hastings, overheard by one of the locals, led to gossip amongst the regulars and the speculation that the Americans were CIA agents after some dark secret. In fact, the truth was far more terrifying than the speculation in the pub. A few days later four other visitors arrived at the pub. They were the newly formed Paranormal Investigation Project, and under their investigation the horrifying truth began to emerge.

About the Author

After leaving school in 1956 Ronald started work as an apprentice mechanic. Later he left the garage work and joined British Rail as a cleaner, graduating to Passed Cleaner/Fireman. But he left British Rail when the diesels began to take over from steam engines and firemen were no longer needed. He took on a position as tyre-fitter and also worked as a large van driver for a food distribution company, but when he was twenty-one he joined the RAF and became an RAF policeman. After three years he was medically discharged because of stomach ulcers. After working in a factory for a couple of years, Ronald got a job as an HGV driver and stayed in that role for a few years, also having his own vehicles on lease. But after finding he was just about breaking even, he got rid of them. He then did a short spell of continental driving but gave that up and returned to delivering around the United Kingdom instead. In his spare time he took up oil painting and had paintings displayed in the local gallery in Walsall. In 2005 his painting “A Gift from the Gods” won a place at the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington, London. Travelling to London to receive his display certificate was a real thrill for him. In 1972, even though he was working, Ronald had the idea to write a book. He started writing the script for the book in longhand, but after a few months he purchased a typewriter and taught himself to type. In 1999 he purchased his first computer and began the work on the book. The book was published by a vanity publisher who was a con man and in 2001 went into bankruptcy, leaving Ronald with a large amount of debt. Ronald carried on working as a HGV Class 1 driver, and then he had the book published again. But before the five-year POD contract was up, Ronald sent three e-mails to the publisher ending the contract because of certain behaviour of the publisher. A series of strokes around Christmas 2001 had left Ronald partially paralyzed. He fought back to regain his speech and to be able to drive his car again and to walk with a stick. Undaunted, Ronald was persevering with his writing. For the fourteenth time he rewrote his book until he was satisfied that readers would like it. Now being in a reading group at the local library not far from where he lived, he let his reading group read the finished manuscript and also the book two and three scripts. The response he had from them made him even more determined to get himself established as a writer, and so Deadly Diversions Book 1 and Deadly Diversions Book 2 are to be published with AuthorHouse UK. Ronald now has finished Deadly Diversions Book 3 and is halfway through Deadly Diversions Book 4; he hopes to complete fifteen books total in the series. He wishes all his readers good reading and hopes they enjoy his books. He has put hundreds of hours in working to bring his books to as near perfection as is possible, being determined to be a success as a writer. Now he is working with Author House UK to bring that dream to reality, not only for himself but also for his partner, Winifred Price, who has stuck by him through it all. To my partner Winifred Price For her love and support During the making and Creation of this book All my love and thanks Ron
