All medications have a trade name and a generic name. The generic name is the chemical name and the trade name is the name the drug company sells the medication by. In this chapter there are many words that introduce you to the field of pharmacology. It looks horribly intimidating but it really isn’t. Pharmacology is just another class that needs a lot of attention. To keep up on top of your studies will do you a lot better than letting yourself get behind. What is pharmacology? Well you can come up with many answers some of them not to nice but when it all comes down to the correct answer it is the study of medications and their effects on the body. Now was that hard? About the Book
Fun With Pharmacology is a new innovative way to study a really hard class. If the student has fun while learning they will remember much more, and in a more expedient manner. They will retain much more of it for a longer period of time. I have used alternative teaching methods apart from the usual traditional methods. I used “mnemonics” and games to teach. No longer does Pharmacology have to be intimidating or hard class for anyone!
About the Author
Besides being an accomplished web author, I have a Masters degree in Occupational Studies from California State University at Long Beach in California. My specialty is in Curriculum and Instruction and I have developed the pharmacology curriculum used in a local Regional Occupational Center. It has been in place for about 4 years. I am also a Registered Pharmacy Technician and have been, for 12 years and a Licensed Psychiatric Technician for the past 28 years. I have been teaching new incoming students in the Psychiatric Technician programs at the local colleges as they come into their clinical rotations at the hospital where I am employed. I have seen many students struggle with pharmacology and thought it was about time someone would author a book that would make the class less intimidating. I too had trouble with pharmacology and now these new alternative teaching methods have been tested and practiced on my own students. Their grades have improved and the pass rates in the class have soared!
