"As he remained buckled to the concrete slab, the captive watched as the masked man raised the v-shaped item. It was a funnel. Again he pleaded with his kidnapper but like before, it fell on deaf ears. It was futile and he knew it. This man had plans for him and it appeared he was going to act on them.
His pleas were stifled as the funnel was forced into his mouth. He tried to spit it out but a strong hand held it firm. The dark figure then raised his other arm, canister in hand. The immediate aroma of petrol was suddenly in the air. Then it was in his throat as the warm fluid was poured into the funnel. He began to choke and splutter and tried not to swallow but it was no good. The rich golden liquid found its way into his stomach. And it kept coming, litre after litre until the canister was empty. Satisfied with his work, the masked man threw the petrol can aside and removed the funnel from his victim’s mouth. The funnel was immediately followed by a rush of vomit and petrol.
Sobbing and convulsing uncontrollably, the captive struggled once more with his bonds.
“No…no more, please! I can’t take anymore.”
Paying no attention to the shackled man, the masked figure turned back to the table and picked up a box of matches.
“No, God, please. Don’t do this. I’m innocent, you know I’m innocent!”
Stepping once more into the line of sight, the masked man plucked a match from the box and held it up to his victim. Undiluted fear ruled the captive’s face and he began tugging at his chains again, inevitably to no avail. He spluttered through petrol and tears.
Breaking his unearthly silence, the masked man simply stared into his victim’s eyes.
“Nobody’s innocent,” he whispered, and struck the match."

About the Book
Jude Gardener is not an Obsessive Compulsive in the traditional sense. Although he has a tendency towards linier events, and quirks about cleanliness, his true obsession lies within his inability to leave anything unfinished. In fact his obsession is so deeply set that he would rather pass out in the street than give up on his run, and he would rather the sun-bed burn his skin raw than abandon it before the tubes flicked off.
But someone knows about Jude’s unorthodox lifestyle, and they are out to exploit it.
When Jude gets involved in a seemingly harmless game, his tormentors raise the stakes, and as things begin to turn far from harmless, he realises there’s no turning back.

Lee Brailsford lives in Mansfield in Nottinghamshire, England and has travelled widely, living in the Canary Islands, the Alps in the south of France, and then Oslo in Norway before returning to the UK to live in Warrington in Cheshire for five years.
