Your Friend, Math

This is a book about mathematics, a subject that people tend to avoid. Indeed, there is a concept-math anxiety-that first appeared around 1972 and since then, has become a major source of concern in the pedagogic (teaching) profession. This book hopes to help readers overcome math anxiety and make math interesting and entertaining by breaking down math into convenient, easy-to-digest chapters without all the details, equations, theorems and so forth that weigh down your average high school or college math textbook. Also, there’s a bit of the history of mathematics that tries to answer the question, “"Why did math evolve the way it did?"” Such an approach adds perspective, and has proven to be effective in gaining an understanding of math. Towards the end, this book does get into some of the more complicated and esoteric areas of math but the way it is structured, you build up to these sections in a relaxed, conversational manner, with an understanding of these more advanced topics that does not overwhelm and get bogged down into the mathematical minutiae that more often than not confuses rather than illuminates.
