There are many styles of poetry reflecting a world of poets. It is a language painted on canvas that can be seen in the night. There’s something profoundly beautiful about that. Touching autumn Leaves of a match touching autumn. He looked like a sailor standing there. With a turtle neck and careless hair. Gathering piles of fall. The delayed cracking of branches from the silence of breaking. I smelt the burning oak as grey rivers flow. The orange embers fly. Reminiscent of the harvest trees. I turn to sudden gust that blow and stay. In autumns fire where warmth calls. It’s shadow cold and lingers. Pressing and blowing breath in my fingers. I forgot winter is near but it remembered. Don’t let time walk in the night Don’t let time walk away into the night. Then will only seasons remind us of moments when we said hello. And spring the laughter we so easily showed. And fall when we realized something was wrong. And winter when it was all gone. Stay with here all summer long.

About the Book
When I’m old and wise follows Henry T. Contreras an American poet to maturity through a truthful and soul searching journey with a mixed collection of his early poetry and new.
About the Author
Henry T. Contreras is an American poet living in Southern California who grew up in the shadows of adversity. After his aunt took guardianship of him he started writing as a way deal with his struggles. He went on to study theatre and started writing short plays and ballads but was always true to recording his journey through writing which evolved into poetry. He spent time traveling the country which he prides as a writer. You’ll see this in his images of northern lights, fireflies, cities and small towns. His love for poetry still continues as he furthers his studies in creative writing and his involvement in literature groups. He now resides in his home state of California where he now is an advocate for human rights. He continues to take road trips across the country to keep his narrative alive. In his words, there’s nothing more descriptive and inspirational than driving on endless roads through ghost towns, valleys and deserts to get to the heart of emotions and what you are seeing.
