Ares, Puperpup, what a stupid name! Ares is a good name for me. Ares was the Greek god of war. He was a warrior, a god of action and bravery, but Puperpup? How silly and demeaning! It sounds like a stuffed, cuddly toy, but that is what Karen, my Alpha calls me. She thinks it's cute. She thinks I'm cute, so I guess it's alright. I think of myself as an action hero, but cuteness can get more treats.

About the Book
Ares PuperPup is an adventuresome Jack Russell terrier who loves to hunt in the backyard and scare away rats, possums, and birds. As an important member of his Lake Forest pack, Ares takes his job as official protector very seriously. Unfortunately, PuperPup thinks he is bigger than he really is. In PuperPup’s mind, he is a brave hunter and warrior dog. But in real life, he can be the bad dog of the family who often gets himself into funny situations. When a rat sneaks into his house one day, PuperPup ferociously growls, stopping the invader in its tracks. But when the pack’s other dogs get involved in the chase to capture the rat, everything goes from crazy to crazier! In this engaging tale for children, a furry hunter extraordinaire and his fellow pack of dogs set out on a wild adventure to capture the pesky rat who has invaded their beloved territory.
About the Author
Karen Reaves is a passionate storyteller who raises service dogs for Canine Companions for Independence. She resides with her husband, Stan, and dogs, Ares PuperPup and Toots, in Lake Forest, California. Dogs are a huge part of her family’s life. She thinks all dogs have a story to tell, but need a voice. She would like to be one of those voices. The Rat in the House is her first book.
